Soul music at its best for your event!
The band that takes part of its name from a nondescript luncheon meat, but whose members are far from nondescript musicians, is coming Saturday to the Georgia Theatre with its distinctive brand of Detroit- and Memphis-style rhythm and blues.

The band traces its roots to 1981, when it was formed by local musician T. Graham Brown.

Brown, who had been lead vocalist for Rack of Spam, left the band in 1982 for Nashville for a solo career in country music.

Today, Rack of Spam's lineup includes players who have appeared with the Gregg Allman Band, Stevie Winwood, Southern rock band Sea Level, the Randall Bramblett Band, Daron Norwood, The Normaltown Flyers, The Strawberry Flats, The Genteels, The Jesters, and The Vibratones.

The lineup set to play Saturday at the Georgia Theatre is Clarence Young, lead vocals; Davis Causey, guitar; Greg Veale, bass; Chris Canalos, guitar; Tim White, keyboards; Randall Bramblett, tenor sax; Tom Ryan, baritone sax; Wayne Postell, trumpet; Cal Hale, drums; and Dean Quinter, percussion. In 2005 the band also added guitarist Rick Fowler to its lineup.
